Fat-Free vs Full-Fat: What’s the Healthier Choice?
Supporting prediabetes and type 2 diabetes to optimise your long-term metabolic health
I routinely work with clients aiming to reduce the progression of prediabetes or better manage their type 2 diabetes diagnosis.
Effective diabetes management goes far beyond just monitoring blood sugar through a simple blood draw or using continuous glucose monitors (CGMs). Factors such as dietary choices, stress, sleep quality, exercise, and lifestyle habits all play a critical role in controlling blood sugar levels and improving metabolic health. At Wellness with Ruchi, we work closely with clients to identify the root cause of their blood sugar imbalances and create an actionable path forward.
I have extensive experience of working with clients who are experiencing ongoing symptoms, are overweight, have a family history of diabetes, are taking or considering weight-loss medications like Mounjaro or Ozempic, have multiple metabolic health diagnoses (such as hypertension or high cholesterol), and are eager to prevent future complications while optimising their long-term health.
Together, we’ll create a personalised plan with practical, sustainable strategies designed to improve your metabolic health and support your every step of the way.

Success Stories
Understanding prediabetes and diabetes and their long-term health impact
The journey to diabetes is often slow and can take years to fully develop. Contributory risk factors include family history, genetics, carrying extra weight, especially around the middle, ethnicity (with South Asians, Black Africans, and those of African Caribbean descent being at greater risk), and various other dietary and lifestyle choices.
Prediabetes is a precursor to Type 2 diabetes, where blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet in the diabetic range. While there are often no obvious symptoms, it signals that the body is struggling to regulate blood glucose levels properly. Without intervention, it can progress to Type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes insensitive to insulin, or when the pancreas can no longer produce enough insulin to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Symptoms may include excessive thirst, frequent urination particularly at night, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and slow-healing wounds. However, many people may not show symptoms until the condition has significantly advanced.
Prediabetes and diabetes can have serious long-term health impacts if not managed. Elevated blood sugar levels over time can lead to complications such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, nerve damage (neuropathy), and kidney failure. They also increase the risk of vision loss due to retinal damage and conditions like glaucoma and cataracts. Uncontrolled diabetes may cause foot ulcers and, in severe cases, amputations. Additionally, it raises the likelihood of developing dementia and Alzheimer's disease, as poor blood sugar management affects brain health. Studies have consistently shown that lifestyle interventions, such as weight loss, and regular physical activity, can reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes by up to 58% (American Diabetes Association).
