There’s often debate about the role of nutritional therapy in managing autoimmune conditions, and thyroid health is no exception. After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune thyroid condition, in 2016, I faced the challenge of managing symptoms such as a slowed metabolism and hair thinning. While medication helped stabilise my thyroid function, I discovered that addressing underlying imbalances through nutrition and lifestyle changes was crucial for effectively managing my condition. By focusing on nutrient-dense foods, reducing inflammation by minimising gluten and dairy, and supporting my gut health, I was able to reverse my autoimmune thyroid condition and achieve a greater sense of balance and well-being.
